Have you thought about taking up Pickleball?

Pickleball is a new(ish) sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It is played on a court similar in size and markings to a badminton court. Players hit a light plastic ball across a net – about the same height as a tennis net – using lightweight paddles.  The game can be fast, and requires skill and quick reactions – but can be played successfully by people of all ages.

In 2024 we set up a new group to play at Chepstow Leisure Centre, and now play regularly on Friday afternoons.  Because of the numbers playing (the group has quickly reached 60 members), we are all playing on a fortnightly basis at the moment, and we usually have additional sessions on Tuesday afternoons and Sunday mornings.

We are all beginners, but we are quickly learning the skills, rules and tactics for playing – it is a very easy game to pick up without much coaching.

As with all sports activities, playing pickleball carries some risk of injury. Players need to make sure that they play within their limits, wear the correct footwear and clothing, and take care on court.

Currently, we have limited capacity to accept new members – but, if you are interested in joining us when the opportunity arises, please contact the Group Leader.
