About the Group
Some of our members have danced for many years while others are relative beginners so you if you are thinking of joining us you are bound to fit somewhere in our group.
We dance the popular Ballroom and Latin dances such as waltz, quickstep, tango, rumba, and cha cha plus well-known Sequence Dances such as the Saunter Together, Balmoral Blues, Lilac Waltz, and the Platinum Waltz – the full list can be seen below.
We have free lunch dances throughout the year, and coordinate ‘outings’ to dances in the local area.
Teaching relies on the experience of Chepstow u3a members.

More Details of When We Meet
Every Tuesday of the Month
- On the first Tuesday of the month we have a coffee dance from 10.00 am to 12 noon. All members of the Group are welcome to come along.
- On all other Tuesdays
- Main Group from 9.30 am to 12 noon. For those who have been dancing for many years or have moved on from our Improvers Group.
- Ballroom and Latin from 9.30 am to 10 am
- Mainly Sequence from 10 am to 12 noon.
- Improvers from 12 noon to 1 pm. For those who have moved up from a previous Beginners Group or danced many years ago and are ‘remembering’ what they used to know or have been learning elsewhere.
- Main Group from 9.30 am to 12 noon. For those who have been dancing for many years or have moved on from our Improvers Group.
Couples Choice
Couples, or just one member of the couple, select six of their favourite dances, Ballroom, Latin or Sequence, for us to dance after our coffee break at about 10.45 am.
The music can be chosen by us or by you from our extensive Spotify list, or you can bring it along on your phone and link it into our speaker system
Please let us have your choices by 10.00 am so that we do not play any of your dances before the coffee break.
Selected Fridays
- On the 2nd and 4th Fridays of each month
- Ballroom and Latin only
We have learned basic Ballroom routines in the Waltz, Quickstep, Tango, and the Foxtrot
We have also learned basic Rumba and a little bit of Cha Cha
We will continue with revising these routines and learning new ones.
