1st and 3rd Thursday of the month
Venue: Member's home

We are a small friendly group, who try to converse in French, play games and chat. We take turns to choose topics and lead sessions. None of us is an expert, some have a limited and rusty grasp of the language. Above all we have fun!

We try to concentrate on talking French rather than reading and writing. Just everyday French that we are likely to meet when we are in the country. We sometimes find it useful to look at an on line blog written by a French lady with fluent English, which has short pieces on aspects of French life. She gives advice on pronunciation and colloquial French.

Our skill range is from O level to A level, but most of us have not studied French for some time. We are certainly not fluent. It is a small group and we support each other if one of us gets stuck for a word or phrase!

We are the newest French Conversation group, so are evolving! We meet twice a month in each others’ houses. Details of the arrangement are sent to members a few days before – we have a WhatsApp group to keep in touch. We are a small friendly group (4/5 being the average), who try to converse in French, play games, and chat generally. We all contribute to the choice of topics. None of us is expert, and some have a limited, and rusty, grasp of the language. But we practice what we know and learn from each other. Above all, it is a social group who want to have fun!

Anybody is very welcome to come along on a Thursday to see whether the group is the right one for them – there are four French groups, each with a different approach and skill level. If you let a Group Leader know that you are interested, we can make arrangements with you, with no obligation.
