We cover a broad range of history – some local, some international. It is an open meeting so that Chepstow u3a members can join us on a regular basis or when the subject matter is of particular interest to them.
We meet meet monthly, apart from July and August when we have our Summer break. The charge for each meeting includes a free cup of tea or coffee at the start of the meeting.

Ian Williams will will provide an entertaining insight into the competitive nature of scientific discovery and recognition.
Hooke is only recently being credited for his breadth of work and discovery. He discovered human cell structure, with the microscope he developed.
He was the first suggest that Jupiter rotates on its axis. His detailed sketches of Mars were used in the 19th century to determine that planet‘s rate of rotation and his studies of microscopic fossils led him to become one of the first proponents of a theory of evolution.
