We are a very friendly, sociable and chatty group who have an interest in art. We do it for fun and see what we can achieve and surprise ourselves when the artwork turns out reasonably well.

Composition is our own individual choice. However we do not compete with each other and just do our own thing whilst giving support to each other if needed.

As and when funds allow we invite a professional artist to come along and demonstrate their technique with our choice of subject matter that we wish for the artist to cover.

Watercolour Checklist

1. Have I provided enough tonal contrast?
2. Is the strongest tonal contrast concentrated at the focal point?
3. Have I ensured there is some contrast in shapes and directions?
4. Have I repeated elements, such as form and colour, sufficiently elsewhere in the work?
5. Have I also applied sufficient variation in the elements to avoid dullness?
6. Are the left and right sides of the work balanced?
7. Have I alternated between still and busy sections?
8. Are there some linear elements as well as surface areas to enliven the work?
9. Have I limited my use of colours?
10. Have I tried not to narrate too much in a single painting, but kept my story simple?
