Our weekly walks
-
Although the forecast was a drizzly grey start, the rain had stopped by 9.30 and we had a dry walk up Macnamara's road, into a north westerly wind. Returning along the ridge as far as the foot of Crug Hywel, a watery sun eventually did appear, and helped us up and over the last not very welcome hill after a pleasant descent. 13 miles.
-
A bright, blustery day for a walk up from Pengenffod to Waun Fach, round to the end and back to descend the Dragon's Back - so windy it was hard to keep on your feet at times, but all down safely. A really lovely walk.
-
A favourite walk for the Hill Ramblers - bus from Talgarth to Hay, then a walk up through the golden valley to Rhos Dirion, and back down through the nature reserve to Talgarth.
-
A last minute change of plan, and we were very thankful to Rosemary for stepping in and leading this lovely walk from Grosmont
-
An away day to Exmoor, and a chance to meet up again with Brian and Kay, for a lovely walk up to Selworthy Beacon, along the coastal path and back through the heather. A bonus was the lovely tea rooms in Selworthy itself.
-
One of the only wet days for weeks! It's a great walk though on a sunny day, up Bal Bach from Llanthony and along to Capel y Ffin, and back through the very wet bracken.
-
Perfect walking weather for this very scenic walk across to Cwm Yoy and up Hatterall Hill
-
A lovely circular walk taking in the two lakes, Llyn y Fan Fach and Llyn y Fan Fawr, sunshine but not as hot as it had previously been.
-
Another very hot day so a change of plan, and a very pleasant 10 mile shady walk through the Wye valley, from Whitestones up to The Narth and Beacon Hill.
-
-
Last minute change of plan for this very pleasant walk
-
Another sunny day, but a little cloud cover as we ascended Crawnon. Great views across the valley, and pleasant walk back through the young trees above the Talybont reservoir, joining the Beacons Way back to Llangynidr.
-
Instead of drizzle and mist as forecasted, we had a lovely clear day with plenty of spring sunshine, with the opportunity to paddle through a rather swollen stream!
-
Too hot for the hills, so we had a cooler, mostly shady ramble around three of the Forest of Dean lakes
-
Due to very hot weather , a shady walk was required, so Kate led a beautiful walk up the Angidy River and back long the Wye, with lunch at the Tintern Old Station.
-
A lovely sunny walk along the gullet to the obelisk, then across the hills, and back for a look at the Malvern Spring water operation, and an ice cream.
-
The rain held off, and although the cloud topped the surrounding hills, we had a great walk up Pen Tir, Coppets Hill and the very steep climb up to Mynydd Troedd, and back along the ridge.
-
A fabulous day for 10 of the group who made the trip to west Wales to take a morning boat across to the island of Skomer to see the puffins and other sea birds during their breeding season. The day stayed fair, if a little breezy; a super day out.
-
A very wild and at times wet walk up from Red Daren, along Hatterall Hill, and back along the side above the Honddu valley, up and over the ridge and steeply back down Red Daren. Very invigorating!
-
Mair led this walk up from Blaen y Cwm up past the Grwynne Fawr reservoir, along the edge to Waun Fach and back down through the woods.
-
A walk planned by Rachel, led by Brian using Paula's map! Along the Pontsticill reservoir, up over Cefn yr Ystrad and back down Cwm Callan, in time for a trip to the tearooms.
-
Another lovely spring day for a favourite walk up to the Kymin with super views west, then down through the forest via the Suck stone and New Harkening stone, over Biblins bridge and back along the river Wye.
-
A rather depleted number braved the forecast and walked around Skirrid before the rain set in.
-
On a stunningly beautiful day, a fabulous walk through the old, still leafless oak woods, up the Sugarloaf, along the Deri and back along through the oak woods for some very welcome shade.
-
From the Pont Cadgwyn, a lovely 10.5 mile circular walk up to Garn Wen, across to the Blacksmiths Anvil and back. Chilly on top! Great walking before the bracken grows,
