Walking: Hill Ramblers
Status:Active, open to new members
Group leader:
When: Weekly on Wednesday all day

Weather permitting, we usually walk in the Black Mountains or Brecon Beacons.  Our walks can be strenuous but at a slower pace than Hillwalkers and usually with less ascent.  Any reasonably strong walker will comfortably have time to catch their breath and enjoy the scenery!  The walks are devised and led by the members and are not necessarily recced in advance.  We walk around 9 to 10 miles, sometimes slightly longer in summer and shorter in winter.

We walk every Wednesday.  Meeting arrangements are shown on each week’s walk.

We are delighted to welcome new members.  If you are interested in joining us or would like more information, please contact the Group Leader (see above).

Taking Care of Yourself.  Bring along hot and/or cold drinks and food as you require. Also bring plenty of water to prevent dehydration (especially in hot weather), and a first aid kit to cope with minor accidents. If you have any queries about the walk, please contact the walk leader.  Please ensure that you have suitable clothes and equipment for the terrain and conditions bearing in mind that the weather can change very quickly, particularly on the hill walks. You should always wear proper walking boots and consider using walking poles. Waterproof clothing, including over-trousers, a hat and gloves, should be carried at all times, whilst in summer you should wear a sun hat and sun screen to protect yourself against the sun.

General.  Whilst every effort is made to ensure that all walks are appropriate, the u3a and the leader cannot accept liability for any injury or loss suffered by any person, as a result of taking part in their walking activities, however the loss or injury arises. Any person taking part in the walks should satisfy himself or herself that the activity is suitable for them.
