Frequently Asked Questions
Lift sharing is usually arranged through WhatsApp groups, with the option of meeting at Chepstow Leisure Centre CP or the car park in Raglan (usually leaving at 8.50am). If you wish to join those leaving the Chepstow area, at around 08.30, by arrangement, please contact the leader or either of the Group Leaders.
We encourage participants to carry an "In Case of Emergency" card or thave the details available from the lock screen on their phone.
We stop at around 11:00 for a break, 13:00 for lunch and on longer walks will take an afternoon break too. Make sure you bring hot and/or cold drinks and food as you require. Also bring plenty of water to prevent dehydration (especially in hot weather, when 2 litres may be insufficient).
Please ensure that you consult the weather forecasts and have suitable clothes and equipment for the terrain and conditions – bearing in mind that the weather can change very quickly, particularly on the hill walks. You should always wear proper walking boots and consider using walking poles. Waterproof clothing, including over-trousers, a hat and gloves, should be carried at all times, whilst in summer you should wear a sun hat and sun screen to protect yourself against the sun.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure that all walks are appropriate, the u3a and the leader cannot accept liability for any injury or loss suffered by any person, as a result of taking part in their walking activities, however the loss or injury arises. Any person taking part in the walks should satisfy himself or herself that the activity is suitable for them.
Guests are not allowed on walks unless that guest has the intention of joining the group and then only 2 or 3 times. Dogs are not allowed.
Walkers should carry a first aid kit to cope with minor accidents. If you have any queries about the walk, please contact the walk leader.
