Llangynidr VH, SO 155 196, NP8 1LS. Cp opposite the VH and public toilets. From the A40 turn left before Bwlch and then left in the village and the cp is on the RHS or the B4558 from Crickhowell and the cp is on the LHS. Parking is free but donations are very welcome. (AA: 55 minutes)
Tal-y-bont Reservoir, SO 100 197. Head for Tal-y-bont, usually through Crickhowell, and at the end of the village turn left over the canal and follow the road for a couple of miles to the reservoir and the car park is about 500 yards past the dam on the LHS (1 hour)
Lower Pont Blaen-y-glyn, SO 063 170. On RHS just over a narrow stone bridge a mile or so past the past the end of the Tal-y-bont reservoir. (1 hour 5 minutes)
Upper Blaen-y-glyn, SO 056 176. As above but keep going up steep winding hill and as road levels out turn sharp right into cp. (1 hour 5 minutes)
Neuadd Reservoir, SO 037 169. w3w///bank.ever.manifests As above but continue on past tea rooms (note for later?) to T junction. Turn right and look for cp about 1 mile? on LHS. (1 hour 15 minutes). Maybe quicker going along the Heads of Valleys Road taking the turn off for the Brecon Mountain Railway but a bit more complicated after that.
Llanfrynach, SO 074 258, LD3 7AZ. Head for Brecon on the A40 but look for the Llanfrynach turn on your LHS about 1 mile before Brecon. Then look for the RH turn to the village. Park on the RHS of the road opposite the church by the public toilets. (1 hour 5 minutes)
Craig Cerrig Gleisiad, SN 972 223. From Brecon take the A470 south for about 4 miles and look for a smallish layby on the RHS. If you get to Storey Arms you have gone about a mile too far! May now be quicker along Heads of Valleys Road. (1 hour 10 minutes)
Note that there is another layby on the same road but about 2km nearer to Brecon at SN 979 240 which has been used. Make sure that this one is specified if this is the start point.
Storey Arms, SN 983 202, LD3 8NL. As above but carry on for another mile or so to a large layby on RHS. May now be quicker along Heads of Valleys road. (1 hour 15 minutes)
Angel Inn Pontneddfechan, SN 901 076 (approx), SA11 5NR. Heads of the Valleys Road A465 until you see the sign for Pontneddfechan. Turn off road A465, then right at the lights, fork left and look for the Angel Inn in the village. (AA 1 hour 20 minutes)
Craig Ddinas. SN 911078, SA11 5NE, w3w //debate.putty.clattered. As for the Pontneddfechan above but carry on past the Angel Inn. After 200m bear right on small road. Go past community centre and over hump back bridge to free car park. (Google Maps 1.5hrs)
Coelbren Village, SN853121, SA10 9PH. As for the Pontneddfechan above but after you have turned off the A465 go straight on at the traffic lights. Follow road for about 4 miles and fork right to Coelbren. Turn right after about 1 mile following brown signposts to the free car park. (AA – 1 hour 30 minutes)
Dolygaer Layby. SO055144, CF48 2UR(nearest) . w3w://pesky.juggle.blame. Take A465 Heads of Valleys Road towards Merthyr. Stay on A465 and take turn off signed to Mountain Railway. Follow road past Pontsticill and along west side of Pontsticill Reservoir. After almost 2mls turn right onto minor rd towards Dolygaer and parking area is on left. (Google maps 1hr)
