Thornwell, Tenby Lane, NP16 5GH. Go to the roundabout at the Tesco Express in Thornwell and take the road (Denbigh Drive) off to the left of Tesco. Turn right after about 300 yards and car park is immediately on the left hand side.

Bigsweir, SO 537 051, NP25 4TS. On the A466 Chepstow to Monmouth road about two miles past Llandogo coming from Chepstow. Park on the Chepstow side of the bridge at the side of the road by the bus shelter.

Cadira Beeches Wentwood. ST 422 948. North of Llanvair Discoed coming from the A48 Chepstow to Penhow road (CP on right), Can also be accessed from the Chepstow to Usk road but it looks a bit complicated to me!. (CP on left)

Redbrook, SO 536 099, NP25 4LZ. A further four miles or so closer to Monmouth. Use the car park at the Monmouth end of the village. Post Code is approximate.

Tintern Wireworks Car Park. SO 528 003, NP16 6TQ. Turn up the road by the Wild Hare and then after about 500 metres,  as the road turns right, go right into the car park.

Pwllmeyric, ST 510 913. (approx. post code is NP16 5LJ) at Hayes Gate Lane, a small road on RHS of the A48 coming from Chepstow, between St. Pierre and the motorway  bridge. Park on the side of the road

Rhyd-y-fedw Green near Itton. ST  479 960. Coming from Chepstow, at the big right hand bend in Itton turn left but then go straight on – don’t go left to Shirenewton. After about 800 yards park on the left hand side at the cross roads.

Fourteen Locks Canal Centre, Cwm Lane, Rogerstone, Newport NP10 9GN.  £1 car parking fee, card only. ( AA: 30 mins.)

Further Away

Longwood Drive. Leave the M4 at junction 32 and head towards the Asda Cardiff Coryton Superstore.CF14 7EW Pass the Superstore and park a few hundred yards on the right at the side of the road on Longwood Drive.. The ride starts from Longwood Drive. There are toilets at the Superstore. (AA-45 minutes)

Pantymoile Basin. Fountain road, Pontypool. NP4 8ER. Free car park holds several vehicles but  parking spaces on Fountain road available if full. Must vacate car park by 4pm. (AA 40 mins) 

Sirhowy Park: Park either on the road or in car park before the barrier.  ST212 913, What3words – “breaches.barrel.circulate”, or enter “Sirhowy valley Country Park, Newport” into Google maps.
